Hi All
As you all aware our talks over the last 18 month's with Mick Clark about a possible merge with both leagues has finally coming to fruition, which we think will benefit junior football in the North East.
We will be looking to use 2 venues for our development groups ( under 7's and under 8's ), which will be Durham for the South Venue and Monkton / Temple Park combined for the North venue. We will have 8 x 3-G pitches at 5 v 5. The under 7's will be split geographically for the first half of the season with teams from the North and South going to venues closest to them, we will then look to grade these teams where some travelling will obviously occur, with a possiblity of playing 50% of games at each venue once graded.
the under 8's have already been graded in the RFYL last season, so teams from the Chase Holmes League would need to be graded into these divisions, which can be done by playing friendly games at Monkton against opposition at various levels ( we will support you in that).
The under 9's and 10's will also play on grass at Monkton, with the hope of using Monkton as a venue along with other venues that Mick has already. We cant guarantee that local teams will play at Monkton, as this would depend on the grading system RFYL have in place but managers who have teams in both age groups we would try to keep at the same venue if that is possible.
We are going ahead with our AGM on the 24th April to take all your questions and also allow you to register your team with preference to what venue you would prefer to play at Monkton / Temple Park for 7's and 8's.
The 9's and 10's can also register with all teams being passed onto RFYL.
We will be discussing 9 v 9 options for the 11's and 12's as we have always classed them in our mini soccer, but Mick has them in with his 11-a-side leagues starting in Sept, so we may put on a mini tournament in between.
Myself and Paul will be involved with the committee and the AGM for the League is 14th May at the Tavistock Roker Hotel ( on sea front) at 7pm ( only for under 7's to under 10's), so please all attend that or you will not get into league.
Player registration for a June 21st League start will be from Monday 2nd June. You will be told at the AGM how to register players and any other relevent info. League fee's i believe will be £150.
Please note that Monkton stadium grass pitches and 3-G( limited) are available to be booked mid week and weekends for training days / nights and friendlies, the Trust may put on mini round robins and tournaments for you to get pre season games under your belts.
There will also be a small grass pitch where we plan to run friendly fixtures for under 6's who are developing as the season progresses.
We would like to thank all the teams who have supported us at Monkton and it will be great to see you all playing at our venues.
