We are specifically looking for under 12's and under 8's , but have places at all age groups and we will be extending numbers for under 11's to 12 teams. WE MUST HAVE OVER 60 TEAMS PLAYING MINI SOCCER FOOTBALL IN SOUTH TYNESIDE AND WE HAVE 5 ENTRIES UP TILL NOW FROM LOCAL TEAMS............. ANYONE SHINE ANY LIGHT ON THAT ( IT CANT ALL BE HOLIDAYS ?......WE ARE A CHARITY WHO MASSIVELY SUPPORT GRASS ROOTS FOOTBALL AND HAVE DONE FOR 17 YEARS... LETS SEE YOU SUPPORT US?

Hi All
Owing to the pathetic number of entries for the charities tournament from so called LOCAL COMMUNITY CLUBS, we have had to Cancel once more the tournament over the Bank Holiday. Can I thank the clubs from outside the area who have supported us massively and the 3 ( yes 3) local clubs Monkton AFC, South Tyneside Giants, Monkton Villa, 3 out of a possible 50 teams who have pledged your support.
The Trust has saw both it's league teams diminish and tournament entries deteriate over the last few years to a point where we feel our efforts are being wasted and we will no longer be holding any more mini soccer tournaments and only hosting RFYL venues at Monkton.
It is a sad day for us to call this, but we have tried hard but some clubs are bigger than leagues now and unfortunately this is the end result.

I get your frustration and anger. But as a parent it feels like you're throwing the baby out with the bathwater a little here.
We were due to be in the Under 7s. And you have 8 teams listed there... surely enough to run a tournament? No? Or is it not worth running it for just that age group? There are other reasonably supported age groups too. Surely some is better than none?

Hi Dave
I get your point but, maybe we should have told the whole story, there were several teams who promised to come in...but where not forth coming.A third of those teams listed rang and said they would enter and didn't, the under 10's had 5 teams, the 11's cleveland x2 and West Denton x 2 did not put forms in
Unfortunately in the 7's Dave 4 of them were whickham teams and only 1 put their form in, and to be fare you need at least 8 to make it worthwhile ( as you stated), as we don't get pitches free, we have to supply decent trophies and pay for refs, so taking in £100-£125 per age group just doesn't work. I know where your coming from, but we are just not getting the support locally? and there comes a time after 17 years where you say enough is enough mate. No one is more disappointed than us and as a parent i would be asking the powers of B why local boys clubs don't support the charity. Considering if it wasn't for the league/ Trust these clubs would never have been formed?

Thanks for the reply Alan. I really appreciate that.
Its a d**n shame, and I feel for you and all your colleagues. I live over in Northumberland myself nowadays and I and all our lot were looking forward to coming down for the weekend.
Thanks again for the explanation.
Cheers, Dave
