Hi All
As you know our numbers have been falling over the years and the LMC is well aware of this.
Since 1997 when we launched the first mini soccer league in the country we have catered for over
34,000 children. Giving them fantastic opportunities to enjoy our great sport. This does not include the many tournaments we have ran over the years. There has been some great past and present professional players have come through our league, which we are very proud of. We have won over 15 awards over the years for our services to the community and it has been through your support to the charity that has helped us achieve this.
That is why we are still fighting your corner today to ensure that football continues in this proud borough
who deserve to have a junior football league serving them.
We are not disappearing, on the conterary we are looking forward with excitement to the future.
We are in first stage negotiations with Mick Clark and the RFYL management committee, as to a possible merger with both leagues, using venues at Monkton and Temple Park for a possible North venue. Other venues South and West maybe set up too.
We will be in a better position to discuss our proposals to the RFYL at our league management committee meeting on 27th March, so would advise you all try to attend that.
We think our proposals will give security to the long term future of junior football and feel a merger is a great step towards ensuring all clubs needs are met.We will be looking to merge with mini soccer and possibly 9 v 9 but will keep 11-a-side seperate for time being as ours is a Saturday league.
The mini soccer will be scheduled to be played on SATURDAYS with an open mid week mini league ran at Monkton with teams from South and North invited to play, day and format to be arranged.
We will answer some questions, but you must appreciate negotiations have only just commenced, with Mick taking our proposals to the RFYL MC in the next couple of weeks.
